Tony & Ara’s Project, as featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs.

At the beginning of October 2019 we were approached by Tony and Ara to ask if we would be interested to assist with a quotation to work with them on their new build project in the village of Stoke Row, Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire and were made aware that the project would be featured on the Grand Designs television show. Tony explained that they were at the stage of the build where they required waterproofing to the main roof as soon as possible due to being let down by their chosen roofer and the fact that the rain was relentless and heavy, making progress impossible.

We visited site to carry out an initial survey and following discussions proposed the Triflex ProTect/ProDetail cold applied PMMA resin roofing system & Triflex ProTerra Quartz balcony product due to the complexity of the roof, balconies and fascia bands. The benefits of using the Triflex products was the extremely quick curing times of the PMMA resins and the fact that it is a single layer product therefore greatly reducing installation times and most importantly that the waterproofing forms a completely seamless waterproofing solution that can be laid to 0˚ c which was relevant as winter was upon us.

Despite Tony and Ara’s best efforts to cover the large and complex roof area with plastic sheeting the weather was winning the battle and after serious consideration the decision was made to erect a temporary roof ‘tin hat’ scaffold. Once the scaffold had been erected we were instructed to proceed. Our installers Simon and Darren commenced works towards the end of November 2019 and completed the main roof just before Christmas.

The second phase of the waterproofing works started at the end of October 2021 when the lower level flat roof, balcony and fascia band areas were ready for the installation of the Triflex with works completing just before Christmas 2021.

We are genuinely grateful to have had the opportunity to have met and worked with Tony and Ara on their fantastic and challenging environmentally friendly home and wellness retreat set in the woodlands of Stoke Row. To have been part of a project that was featuring on the Grand Designs TV show was an additional bonus and very exciting for all involved.

Topseal HD seamless GRP flat roof and balcony waterproofing system installed on a new build block of flats, Earley Mews, Camden, London, NW1.

The new flats at Early Mews, Camden were designed by architect Cassion Castle and Advanced Roofing Solutions were awarded the contract to install the new Topseal HD seamless GRP flat roof and balcony waterproofing system. The area of flat roof leading out from the roof access pod was finished with a natural Delabole slate granule anti-skid finish as railings will be installed and a section used as a roof terrace.

Topseal GRP roofing systems are BBA approved, form a completely seamless membrane that is covered by a 30 year guarantee for flat roofs and 25 years for balconies and walkways and is a product that we have been installing for 18 years.

A Topseal HD Warmroof System Installed at Northfield Court

We have recently completed the refurbishment of the flat roof coverings at Northfield Court, Henley on Thames where our role was principal contractor.

The project involved the erection of a ‘tin hat’ temporary roof scaffold to ensure that there was no rainwater ingress into the occupied flats during the course of works.

The installation involved the complete removal of the original roof coverings which included a saturated woodwool slab. Structural alterations were carried out including the reinforcement of the existing timber joists and the cutting out and installation of an roof access hatch.

An 18mm sub-deck board was installed with Visqueen vapour control layer – 140mm of rigid thermal insulation – structural tongue and grooved roof deck – Topseal HD (BBA approved) GRP flat roof covering which will provide the owners with a seamless flat roof covering that is covered by a 30 year watertightness guarantee.

The project was registered by us through the NFRC Competent Person Scheme to confirm compliance with current building regulations and the certificates of compliance were provided.

Leaking off the shelf GRP fibreglass roof covering replaced by Advanced Roofing Solutions

Our customers had an off the shelf, non-BBA approved GRP fibreglass roof covering installed onto their new extension by poorly trained installers and had been suffering leaks ever since.

Following inspection we discovered a number of faults including pinholes and areas where the fibreglass had delaminated from the roof deck boards and topcoat was flaking.

The project involved removing the existing GRP fibreglass roof covering, roof deck boards, inspection of the thermal insulation layer and checking that a vapour control layer and sub-deck was present. Our installers then carefully re-constructed the roof, installing a new tongue and grooved OSB3 roof deck and installed the new Topseal HD GRP fibreglass roof covering.

Topseal HD is a BBA approved and certified GRP roof covering that forms a completely seamless waterproofing system that is guaranteed for a period of 30 years.

The new roof coverings are now guaranteed and have been registered through the NFRC Competent Person scheme to confirm compliance to building regulations.

Overlaying 2200m² of asphalt roof with the Triflex Protect, cold applied PMMA resin roofing system which forms a completely seamless and elastic waterproof membrane that can withstand maintenance foot traffic and is covered by a 25 year guarantee.

Eyre Court is a prestigious residential block in London’s St Johns Wood and is located opposite the Finchley Road entrance of St Johns Wood underground station.

Advanced Roofing Solutions were contracted as principal contractor by Trust Premier Property Management to prepare and overlay 2200m² of asphalt roof with the Triflex Protect, cold applied PMMA resin roofing system which forms a completely seamless and elastic waterproof membrane that can withstand maintenance foot traffic and is covered by a 25 year guarantee.

The roof at Eyre Court is a mansard design with outer slate tile faces that discharge rainwater into a large parapet gutter at the bottom with a flat roof on top. The parapet gutter runs along the entire perimeter of the front and both side elevations with a total area of 500m² and was overlaid with the Triflex ProDetail cold-applied PMMA resin detailing system and is now covered by a 10 year guarantee.

The installation was complicated by the sheer amount of heating pipes and penetrations on the roof however, our installers worked meticulously and delivered a superb, fully guaranteed roofing solution that will perform for many years and has the added benefit of being able to be directly overlaid with Triflex waterproofing at any point in the future. This project was specified by Triflex Uk and monitored throughout the course of works by Triflex Uk field technicians..

Advanced Roofing Solutions were awarded the contract to prepare the existing failing mineral felt and single ply roof coverings and provide a solvent free Triflex Protect cold applied resin, seamless waterproofing system that would be guaranteed for a period of 25 years.

The project entailed the overlay of the main flat roof and pitched roof areas to the large penthouse apartments at either end of the block, the lining of mansard gutters at upper and lower levels, bay roof projections and the overlay of the large wrap around Penthouse roof terraces at either end of the property using Triflex ProTerra HD Buried.

We were further instructed to remove in excess of 190m² of sand cement render to the inside faces of the roof terrace parapets and re-render using a chalk white Weber Monocouche product before a new composite decking was installed. New gray finish full replacement fascia boards were also installed to the pitched roofs of the two penthouse apartments.

The project completed on time and to budget
